Gunnfríður Jónsdóttir

Gunnfríður Jónsdóttir (born December 26, 1889 in Iceland , † May 15, 1968 in Reykjavík ) was an Icelandic sculptor .

Life

Gunnfríður Jónsdóttir was a daughter of Halldóra Einarsdóttir Andréssonar and Jón Jónsson. Her grandfather was the poet Einar Andrésson - he was suspected of practicing witchcraft .

She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm with the sculptor Carl Milles . From 1924 to 1940 Gunnfríður Jónsdóttir was married to the sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson (1893–1982), the marriage remained childless.
