Gunnlaugur "Gulli" Briem (* 1963 ) is an Icelandic musician. Gulli is a drummer and founding member of the Icelandic radio group Mezzoforte , in which he has played since 1977.

Gulli started drumming on kitchen utensils when he was five years old, and when he was twelve he got his first drum kit. He has been a professional musician since he was 16. He studied in Reykjavík and at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles , among others .

Gulli has played with the following musicians in the studio and on stage (excerpt): Earth Affair, Mezzoforte, Philip Catherine, The Miami Sound Machine (in Evita the Movie) Gus Gus and Björk (in their early days), David O'Higgins, Madonna (in the film Evita), Mornington Lockett , Joe Hubbard, Tony Smith, Ike Leo, Michael Ball, Jonn Savannah, Hilaire Penda, Fi-Be, The Dreem Team, British National Symphony Orchestra, Fridrik Karlsson and Djabe .

He was also involved in musicals : Evita The Movie, Jesus Christ Superstar, Blood Brothers, Whistle down the Wind, Carmen Negra.

He has a daughter, Anita Briem with the Icelandic vocalist Erna Þórarinsdóttir .
