Miami Sound Machine was a US American Latin pop - band .
Band history
Originally founded in Miami in the early 1970s by the Cuban musician Emilio Estefan as Miami Latin Boys, the group renamed itself to Miami Sound Machine around 1977 after the recording of singer Gloria Fajardo (later married Gloria Estefan ).
Initially, the band released several albums in a mix of English and Spanish . After switching to CBS in 1980, several long players in Spanish followed until 1983. With the dance hit Dr. Beat , the group achieved a top ten European hit in the summer of 1984, prompting CBS to give the group the green light to release the completely English-language album Eyes of Innocence . With conga! from the album Primitive Love the breakthrough came a year later in the USA.
Other most successful songs by the band are Bad Boy and Words Get in the Way from 1986. In the same year, the Miami Sound Machine contributed the song Hot Summer Nights to the soundtrack of the film Top-Gun .
From 1987, the solo career of the lead singer Gloria Estefan increasingly came to the fore. The group released from 1987 as "Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine". From 1989 the albums were only released under the singer's name. However, to this day, the members of the Miami Sound Machine form the backing band of Gloria Estefan in changing line-up for live concerts and TV appearances.
An attempt to establish a women's trio on the dance floor under the name Miami Sound Machine was commercially unsuccessful in 2002.
