Dr. Beat is a song by the musical group Miami Sound Machine , written by Enrique E. "Kiki" Garcia in 1984 and produced by Emilio Estefan Jr.

history

Originally it was an English-language song by the music group, released by Epic Records as the B-side of a Spanish track aimed at reaching the English-speaking population of the United States. The DJs preferred this track instead of the Spanish language song on the A side. In response, Dr. Beat released worldwide in July 1984 as the A-side of a 10 "single. The song was successful in many countries. The rise in the top 10 of the dance charts in the USA meant the breakthrough there for Miami Sound Machine.

The hit was awarded the silver record in Great Britain and Switzerland . In Australia , the song received the gold record . In South Korea the song reached number 1 on the charts.

The song was presented there in discos due to its great success in Europe. For lack of their own pieces, the group played old Cuban congas , which were well received. This gave them the idea to compose a song called Conga with English lyrics.

Dr. Beat is 4:26 minutes long and appeared on the first fully English-language album Eyes of Innocence . On the B-side of the single is an instrumental version of the song.

Music genre

The song mixes a happy disco melody with influences from Latin American music. The siren at the beginning of the track called the dancers in the discos onto the dance floor. In the US the song has been classified as R&B and in Europe as dance.

Music video

At the beginning of the music video, Gloria Estefan is dancing in front of many people on the roof of a skyscraper. Then she is driven to the hospital by doctors. In the hospital, some examinations and an operation are carried out, at the end a radio is removed from Gloria Estefan.
