Guo Guangchang

Guo Guangchang ( Chinese  郭廣昌  /  郭广昌 ; * 1967 in Dongyang , Zhejiang Province , China ) is a Chinese entrepreneur and multi-billionaire. He is known as the " Warren Buffett of Shanghai" because of his successful investment strategy.

Life

Guo was born in 1967 in Dongyang City and grew up in poor conditions during the Chinese Cultural Revolution . He studied philosophy at Fudan University and graduated there in 1989 with a bachelor's degree. He then worked for the Chinese Communist Youth Association at Fudan University for three years . In 1992 he founded the private company Fosun with university friends , which grew into an international corporate conglomerate within 20 years.

Since 2003 he has been a delegate in the Chinese National People's Congress .

According to the US American Forbes magazine , Guo is one of the richest Chinese. According to the Forbes 2015 list, his net worth is approximately $ 6.9 billion. This puts Guo Guangchang in 11th place on Forbes' list of the richest people in China.

In the summer of 2015 there were rumors that he was being investigated on suspicion of corruption. On December 10, 2015, his company reported that he could not be reached, but one day later gave the all-clear for the time being. Fosun later said that Guo Guangchang was "assisting the police in some investigation." The corporation announced on December 14, 2015 that Guangzhou was returning.
