Gustav Adolf Suess

Gustav (Adolf) Süß (born January 15, 1927 - † October 15, 2016 in Mainz ) was a German history teacher, history didactician and chairman of the Association of German History Teachers 1980–1986.

Life

Süß studied history, German and Latin and was a high school teacher from 1950 until he retired in 1987. He received his doctorate in 1952 from the University of Mainz on the history of the Upper Rhine District . He became director of studies in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 1964 he was the head of history at the study seminar for grammar schools in Mainz. From 1975 to 1980 he was the head of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Association of the Association of History Teachers in Germany; Suss published social studies and history textbooks in the Diesterweg publishing house and essays in historical didactic journals.
