Gustav Dupont
Gustav Dupont ( July 23, 1867 in Stuttgart - February 26, 1912 in Frankfurt / Main ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).
Life
Gustav Dupont began his singing career in Augsburg in 1897 and, after being engaged in Danzig in 1898 and Düsseldorf in 1899, joined the Wiesbaden Court Theater Association in 1900, where he remained until 1901. From 1902 to 1904 he worked at the City Theater of Magdeburg and from 1904 to 1906 at the City Theater of Bern (Switzerland). After that he left his place of residence there and went on numerous guest appearances in Germany.
He was regarded as a very good representative of the lyric tenor subject with a not very far-reaching, but very nicely balanced, melodious and good schooling organ, whose performances in his major roles as "Lyonel" in Flotow's Martha , "Wilhelm Meister" in Mignon by Ambroise Thomas , “Don Ottavio” in Don Giovanni and “Tamino” in the Magic Flute were widely acclaimed. But he was also able to assert himself as a concert singer.
He committed suicide during an attack of depression.
