Gustav Horcher

Gustav Horcher (born November 5, 1873 , † September 8, 1931 in Berlin ) was a German restaurateur.

Live and act

Coming from the Baden wine industry, he opened the “ Horcher ” restaurant in Berlin (W62 Lutherstrasse 21) in 1904 , initially as a small locality. With its specialties, including game dishes (flambéed “Faisan de presse”), “Medaillons Horcher”, self-made tree cake as dessert, as well as its service (including the stool for the lady's handbag), it developed into a gourmet eatery and was one of the most famous culinary establishments , to which guests as well as the emperor's son Prince Eitel Friedrich von Prussia felt drawn. In addition, Horcher was also purveyor to the court. In the 1920s he had numerous celebrities from the art scene (such as Fritzi Massary , Richard Tauber , Franz Werfel ) as regular guests. Even Charlie Chaplin is found in the book again. Gustav Horcher's final resting place is in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
