Gustav Köhler (sculptor)
Gustav Köhler (born October 17, 1884 in Neustadt near Coburg ; † September 21, 1960 there ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Köhler was the son of the businessman Wilhelm Köhler and Christiane, widowed Wicklein, née. Ranger. After attending the industrial and trade school in Neustadt bei Coburg , he worked for porcelain factories in the Lauscha area. This was followed by a visit to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich as well as a job in the art workshops in Süßen / Württemberg. In World War I wounded several times, he could not be active as an artist for a long time. His strength lay in the field of church art and portraits.
