Gustav Landauer (singer)
Gustav Landauer ( 1866 - April 8, 1944 in Nuremberg ) was a German opera singer ( bass , baritone ), opera director and singing teacher .
Life
Landauer made his debut in 1892 at the Wesel Theater (Niederrhein). From 1893 to 1895 he was a member of the ensemble in Colmar (Alsace), from 1895 to 1897 at the City Theater of Koblenz , from 1897 to 1901 at the City Theater of Basel , from 1901 to 1905 at the City Theater of Graz . In 1905 he was engaged at the Nuremberg Municipal Theater and stayed there until his career ended in 1927. In Nuremberg he also worked as a director and deputy opera director.
After his stage farewell, he worked as a singing teacher . Karl Schmitt-Walter was one of his students .
