Gustave Vanaise
Gustave Vanaise (born October 4, 1854 in Ghent , † July 20, 1902 in Saint-Gilles / Sint-Gillis ) was a Belgian portrait, genre and nude painter.
Vanaise studied at the Académie royale des beaux-arts de Gand with Théodore-Joseph Canneel . He then spent a few years in Paris , undertaking a study trip to Italy from 1882 to 1883 and to Spain in 1887 .
The influence of old masters like Peter Paul Rubens is noticeable in some of his works .
Vanaise was a founding member of the Brussels "Les XX" artist group on October 28, 1883 , which he left in 1886.
He died at the age of 47.
