Good Kleve

The Good Kleve in Holstein Kleve is a farm on which the Hotel-Restaurant "Gut Kleve" is operated today. It is not identical to Gut Krummendiek, which is also located in Kleve .

Gut Kleve was still a sheep farm in the 18th century . Heinrich von Meurer, who at that time also owned the Krummendiek estate, leased the sheep farm in 1745 on a long lease . In the following century the tenants changed and in 1839 the ponds, which still belong to the estate, were added to the estate. In the middle of the 19th century, a new brickyard was built next to the existing one instead of the sheep farm . This changed hands several times until it finally burned down shortly after 1900. The architect Otto Roosten from Altona , who has owned the property since 1902, then had the manor house that still exists today built. But already in 1910 the owners changed again. In 1913 the Hamburg manufacturer of soaps, perfumes and cosmetics, Emil Dralle, bought the farm, had farm buildings built and changed the name “Hof Kleve” to “Gut Kleve”. Since 1927 the estate has been owned by the Groth family, who started renting them out to holiday guests. The current owner of the property, which is now operated as a hotel-restaurant, is Ms. Groth-Beckmann (status: 2010).
