The Gute Luise von Avranches is a traditional variety of the pear ( Pyrus communis ). As a chance seedling the Good Luise was in 1778 by a Monsieur de Longueval in Avranches discovered. The original name is given either with Bonne de Longueval or, after a dedication to Longueval's wife Louise, Bonne Louise d'Avranches . Numerous other synonyms have since emerged, such as 'Prince of Württemberg', 'French Rousselet', 'William IV' or, most often, 'Gute Luise' for short.

'Gute Luise von Avranches' should not be confused with 'Wahre Gute Luise' ('Louise Bonne', Merlet 1667), which Duhamel , Johann Prokop Mayer and Diel also describe.

The tree grows medium to strong and is suitable for all forms of education. The branches are sloping to steeply upright on the trunk. The crown therefore develops narrow and high. The flowering time is mid-early, flowering already begins in young trees.

The medium-sized fruit is about 70–90 mm long and 150–200 g heavy. The regular and typically pear-shaped fruit has a greenish-yellow basic color and is brown-red on the sunny side. The flesh is white to yellowish-white, melting, juicy and sweet and sour. It is ready to be picked in mid-September and ready for consumption in October (Central Europe) and can be stored at −1 ° C until January. The Gute Luise is suitable for drying .

The cultivation should preferably take place in good soil. The demands on the location and climate are not very high, so it can be cultivated widely up to medium altitudes. Good yields, however, require a warm location on soil with little lime; Wood and blossoms can be damaged by frost. The yield starts early to medium late and is high. The variety is prone to scabbing on both the leaves and the fruit. Good pollinators of this diploid variety are ' Clapps Liebling ', ' Conference ', ' Köstliche von Charneux ' and ' Vereinsdechantsbirne '.
