The Sohlen estate is a former manor in the Beyendorf-Sohlen district of the city of Magdeburg . The preserved manor house is a listed building .

The property, located in the district of Sohlen at Dodendorfer Weg 12, was part of the Schaeper manor . It was built in 1908 by the architect Baljes. From 1917 onwards, the Willishof settlement, operated as a Vorwerk , in the district of Westerhüsen was also part of the estate .

After the landlords were expropriated , the manor house served as a school from 1946 until the 1990s. It is currently in use as a socio-cultural center . Local history exhibitions are housed on the upper floor.

The building was created as a one and a half story, wide, plastered structure. The house standing on a high base is characterized by a large mansard roof with dormers . The entrance area is designed like a portico . At the back of the manor park there is a terrace with two flights of stairs. In 1978 major renovations took place. In particular, a rear annex was built, which was later demolished. The original situation of the garden exit was restored in a more modern form. There are some Art Nouveau ornaments on the building . The plaster of the manor is made as rough plaster , the bevel of the windows as smooth plaster.

The manor house was surrounded by an extensive park, some of which has been preserved. In a park area, the landlord had created a horticultural use with greenhouses. After the expropriation, this area was parceled out and leased. However, with the restructuring of agriculture, the areas remained unused for a long time. In 1981/82 these areas were prepared as garden plots and built with bungalows. After 1990 it was converted into a residential estate in Froschgund .

To the right of the manor house there is a memorial to Ernst Thälmann from the time the school was used, as well as a sign with directions to distant places.
