The Gutskapelle Pöthen is a chapel only preserved as a ruin in the village of Pöthen, which today belongs to the city of Gommern .

The single-nave church was built in 1695 as a chapel for the neighboring manor, built in 1587, from field stones in a Gothic style. The builders were Adrian Johann von Förder and Anna Maria von Alvensleben. In 1855 the building was restored. For an unexplained reason, the slate roof of the chapel was removed after 1945 . The building then fell into disrepair. Today only the outer walls are preserved.

From 1997 to 1998 took place more than 12 months of rehabilitation under monument protection standing ruin by a job creation scheme of BQG mbH Gommern . The walls were re-grouted. The wall crowns were given a protective lead cover, windows and entrances were secured, and the preserved gable was removed. All entrance paths have been paved and trees growing in the interior have been removed.

The inscription on the north side, referring to the founders of the chapel, as well as the inscription in the interior of the chapel reminding of the renovation of 1855 are well preserved. The family grave of the landowner Leidloff is located inside the chapel .

The chapel is accessible to the public via the cemetery to the north, which is still in use. Every year around St. John's Day , a family church service is held in the ruins under the open sky.
