Guy Gingras

Guy Gingras (born September 1961 in Saint-Raymond de Portneuf ) is a Canadian composer.

From the age of 15, Gingras studied saxophone at the Quebec Conservatory, then composition with Pierick Houdy . He continued his studies in Montreal with Gilles Tremblay and Clermont Pépin and took courses with Pierre Bourque , Pierre Normandin , Mireille Angers , Gilles Auger , Yves Daoust , Denis Bédard , Raoul Sosa , Nick Ayoub and others.

He then completed a course in music pedagogy at the Université Laval and taught a. a. at the Yamaha Music School of Education in Toronto.

Since the 1980s, Gingras has performed as a saxophonist in various formations. In addition, more than 50 compositions were created, which were performed by soloists such as Scott St. John , Richard Raymond and James Somerville and ensembles for contemporary music.
