Guy Méano (born November 11, 1934 in Aix-en-Provence ) is a former French football player .

Career

The younger brother of the national player Francis Méano (1931-1953) began playing football in 1945 when he was a child at SSMC Miramas . Two years later, he switched to the youth team at AS Aix . At the club he was trained as a striker . In 1953 Aix rose to the second division and he was provided for the squad, with which he had made the leap into the professional field. He immediately established himself as a regular player and scored twelve goals in his first year as a professional. In the 1955/56 season he even scored 16 goals and aroused the interest of the first division team Stade Rennes , who signed him in the summer of 1956.

On August 26, 1956, he came at the age of 22 against the US Valenciennes-Anzin to his first division debut, where he was able to achieve the goal to the 3-0 final score. He immediately established himself as a regular player at the highest level of French football. Important teammates who stood by his side on the offensive throughout his time in Rennes were Mahi Khennane and Stanislas Dombeck . In 1957 he had to accept the relegation of his team at the end of his first year. In the course of the following season he hit the target 17 times and thus made his contribution to direct recovery. He then experienced first division football for two years until he turned his back on Rennes in 1960 and moved to second division AS Cannes . He stayed at Cannes for three seasons and was initially a permanent part of the first team, but was no longer called up at all from 1962. In 1963 he ended his professional career at the age of 28 after 94 first division games with 21 goals and 185 second division games with 70 goals. He returned to his third-rate ex-employer from Miramas and was there regularly until 1966.
