from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guy Smallman is a British photojournalist.

During the protests in Geneva against the G8 summit in Évian-les-Bains in 2003 , Smallman was seriously injured on June 1, 2003 by a shock grenade from the police in his left leg. The grenade tore the tissue to the bone. On November 20, 2009, in his trial against the canton of Geneva, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court awarded him the right to compensation for pain and suffering.

In 2009 he was the only western journalist to visit the Afghan village of Garani , where the air raid of the same name took place.

With Kate Mara he produced the film "Into the Fire: the Hidden Victims of Austerity in Greece", which describes the situation of refugees in Greece.
