The Ghimeș Pass (Romanian: Pasul Ghimeș , Hungarian: Gyimes-hágó ) is a pass in Harghita County , Romania . The pass overcomes the Baróter Mountains . Because of its strategic importance, it was fiercely contested during the First World War between German and Austrian units on the one hand and Romanian units on the other.
National road 12A runs over the pass. Not far is the Mănăstirea Făgețel Orthodox Church .
