The Pegnitz grammar school is the grammar school of the city of Pegnitz in the Bayreuth district . A student hostel is attached to the grammar school, which is located on an elevation in the west of the Franconian town. The school has a scientific-technological, a linguistic and a social science branch. An open all-day school (OGTS) is attached to the grammar school.
history
- 1952: Formation of a community of interests for the establishment of a higher educational institution in Pegnitz
- February 1953: Decision of the district council to apply for a grammar school in Pegnitz and approval of the Ministry of Culture to establish a secondary school with six grades
- Spring 1956: Basic excavation for the new school building planned as a two-storey new building on Winterleite (today's old building without a second floor) with a gym
- September 1, 1958: Achievement of independence as "Oberrealschule under construction"; Headmaster was Ludwig Büttner (* 1909)
- Mr Büttner was succeeded by Mr Casselmann as director. Other headmasters were: Herbert Scherer (1973–1993), Kurt Löblein (1993–2002), Rainer Roth (2002–2011), Hermann Dembowski (2011–2017) and Annett Becker (2017–)
- 1966–1968: Construction of the school dormitory
- January 1, 1969: Receipt of the status of a "state home school"
- 1978–1979: Construction of the large extension building (today's new building) with specialist and upper-level rooms, library, new classrooms and dual gym
- 1986: Inauguration of the sports area above the school
- 1993: Elevation of the grammar school to the status of a recognized UNESCO project school
- 2002–2003: Reconstruction of the student dormitory
- 2005–2014: extensive construction work for the general renovation of the school building
- July 2016: Recognition as "School without Racism - School with Courage"
- 2016: On October 17, a gunfire threat was received by email, following which all 800 students and teachers were evacuated.
- April 2017: Recognition of the Gympeg as a Fairtrade school
