The Gymnasium am Stadtpark was founded in 1930 and is a municipal high school for boys and girls in the Krefeld - Uerdingen district .
history
In 1882 the city of Uerdingen took over a private girls 'school at the town hall and thus founded the forerunner of today's Stadtpark Gymnasium, initially with four grades of a girls' school . As early as 1909, the school was expanded up to the tenth grade.
The foundation stone for a new school building - today's old building - took place on September 15, 1929. Before that, the school was already known as a “Lyceum”, as a “Höhere Lehranstalt i. E. "approved.
As a grammar school , the school could be run from 1956.
From 1966 boys can also attend grammar school. Another part of the building was also built in 1966.
Since April 1977 the school has been officially named "Gymnasium am Stadtpark Uerdingen, municipal high school for boys and girls, secondary level I and II".
At the anniversary celebration for the school's 75th anniversary in September 2004, the inauguration of a further extension building was celebrated.
Historically, it is worth mentioning that from June 1943 to October 1945 the Karin-Göring-Schule (today Ricarda-Huch-Gymnasium ) also took place in what is now the Gymnasium am Stadtpark, as the buildings of the Karin-Göring-Schule were badly damaged in an air raid .
