Nora Scheitgen

Eleonore "Nora" Maria Scheitgen (born Zillken ; born January 19, 1890 in Wallerfangen ) was a German school director, author and translator.

Life

Zillken attended elementary school in Wallerfangen until 1902 and then switched to the municipal girls' school in Saarlouis . In 1906 she began her training at the higher teachers 'seminar in Koblenz ( Royal Prussian Teachers' Seminar in Koblenz ), which she completed in 1909. On March 16, 1911, she completed her school-leaving examination at the secondary school in Essen. In 1911 she began studying modern philology , German and philosophy at the University of Bonn and in the winter semester of 1912/13 she studied in Paris. On May 27, 1916, Zillken passed her state examination and on July 26, 1916, she received her doctorate on the basis of her dissertation on Paul Bourget in Bonn. From 1930 to 1932 she headed the Lyceum in Uerdingen (today high school at Stadtpark Uerdingen ). On July 27, 1932, she married the teacher Hubert Scheitgen in Trier , whereupon she had to retire from school due to the celibacy of teachers . From 1957 Scheitgen worked as an author and translator.
