Gypsy & The Cat was an indie - or Dream-Pop - duo from the Australian Melbourne and consisted of the two DJs Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers.

Career

The band made their first appearance in 2010 in London . In November 2010, the debut album called Gilgamesh was released , from which some tracks received massive airplay on Australian radio stations such as Triple J or Nova. A total of three of the titles achieved a placement in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2010. Gypsy & The Cat were nominated for the Australian J Award 2010 music award .

In June 2011 the band went on tour through Australia. They opened up for Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite Tour . From August 2011 the band's song Jona Vark was played in the trailers of the music channel VIVA , replacing Young Blood by the New Zealand band The Naked and Famous . Jona Vark was released on August 5th, 2011 in Germany, the corresponding album Gilgamesh followed on August 26th.

In the fall of 2011, her song Time To Wander became the carrier of a Vodafone commercial. The song was released on December 9, 2011 for download on German music portals.

After their Australian tour and the name "It's A Fine Line", they returned in March 2015 with their new single "Lost Control".

The second album entitled "The Late Blue" was released on October 19, 2012 in Australia and a short time later in Europe.

On July 14th, 2016 the duo announced that "Virtual Islands" will be their final album. Gypsy & The Cat played their last concert on October 2nd, 2016 at Newtown Social Club in Sydney.
