Gypsy Kyss was an American rock band from Chelan , Washington , that was formed in 1986 and broke up around 1992.
history
The band was formed in 1986 and consisted of drummer Mike Seaman, bassist Patrick Oscarson and guitarist and singer Michael Dickes . In the beginning the band covered songs by Bob Dylan and Danny O'Keefe . The following year the trio went to the studio to record the first demos. The band could also be heard on the sampler Metal Meltdown Vol. 3 with the song Take Me Home . The demos were distributed, which allowed the band to increase their popularity, so that the band reached a contract with Rising Sun Productions . After bassist Kevin Ohme and drummer Joey DeChenne joined the band, the debut album When Passion Murdered Innocence followed in 1990 . In the following year, the second album Songs from a Swirling Ocean followed. In the middle of the year Michael Dickes was the only remaining founding member. On the album Groovy Soup , which was released in 1992, the band consisted of Dickes, bassist Kevin Ohme and drummer Joey DeChenne. The album was supposed to be the last of the band before the group broke up.
style
The band played rock music in the style of Rush and Riverdogs in their early days . On the other hand, on the album Groovy Soup , the band played classic folk rock , reminiscent of works by Fleetwood Mac , Tom Petty , REM , Dire Straits and Tracy Chapman . The band's music also has a progressive character.
