Precentral gyrus

The precentral gyrus is the turn ( gyrus ) located on the frontal lobe of the cerebrum in front of the central groove ( sulcus centralis ).

It has its outstanding importance in humans as a place of direct movement control, the so-called primary motor cortex . Area 4 is assigned to the precentral gyrus according to the Brodmann classification based on histological criteria . It is also known as the gigantopyramidal area. The pyramid railway starts from here .

Damage can lead to jacket edge syndrome.
