Héctor Ortiz Benítez (born December 20, 1928 ) is a retired Mexican soccer player who played in midfield .

Héctor Ortíz began his professional career in the late 1940s in the ranks of Club Marte and switched to CD Zacatepec in 1952 , where he was under contract until at least the 1957/58 season and thus won at least four titles.

National team

He made his debut in the Mexican national team in a World Cup qualifier against the USA on September 4, 1949 , which was won 6-0. Against the same opponent, he celebrated his first international goal two weeks later in a 6-2 win.

The highlight of his international playing career was his participation in the 1950 World Cup , where he played all Mexican games in full and scored a penalty goal in the second game against Yugoslavia . Although he played the decisive qualifying matches for the 1958 World Cup in October 1957 against Costa Rica (2-0 and 1-1), he was not included in the Mexican World Cup line-up in 1954 or 1958 .
