history
After the casino Monte-Carlo, which had existed since 1854, was not very successful, François Blanc took over the concession in 1863 . Blanc realized that the casino's poor success was mainly due to the poor transport links and the lack of hotels . He therefore founded the Société des bains de mer (SBM) and promoted the construction of hotels. The Hôtel de Paris was opened as the first hotel on the square in 1863 . In 1962, Winston Churchill suffered a fractured femur in the hotel, after which he had to rely on a wheelchair to move.
The hotel has 182 rooms, 74 suites and one presidential suite . There is also a large ballroom, a bar , a wine cellar and eight conference rooms as well as various luxury boutiques in the hotel.
