The Hörn Campus is an office building complex in Kiel . It was built in 2000 and 2001 for around 23 million DM on the former wasteland between the city center as part of the planned quay city Kiel .
architecture
The architects Schmidt + Bremer developed the design for this building together with the architects Christensen and Steuber. The Hörn Campus has a reflecting, wave-shaped glass front with a total area of 1,800 m². This represents a sail and should therefore symbolize the maritime elements of wind, water and movement as a "glass sail ". Festivals and sporting events often take place in this area , especially during the Kiel Week . The rear of the building consists of stair towers and a cooling rib facade.
history
The Hörn Campus was the first building to be built on the site of the Kai-City Kiel. The construction was also funded with public funds. It was hoped that the new office building would provide significant economic impetus for the area around the Hörn . In and around the Hörn Campus, companies from the information and communication sector should primarily be based

The Hörn Campus is located at the end of the Hörn, the tip of the port of Kiel, which forms the southern end of the Kiel Fjord. The Kiel Employment Agency and Halle400 are in the immediate vicinity .
