Hübenthal is a group of farmsteads in the district of Berneburg , a district of Sontra in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse . The small settlement is about 2.5 km west of the core town of Sontra and 1.5 km northeast of Berneburg.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1269 (Hybetal, Hibental) and referred to as a village. Afterwards it is called "Curia" ( Freihof ) or simply as Hof. In 1275 at the latest and until 1526 the Huebenthal farm was owned by the Bubenbach monastery and the Cornberg monastery . In 1585 four households were counted, in 1747 seven. In 1895 the settlement had grown to 42 inhabitants. In the second half of the 20th century, several Aussiedlerhöfe were settled in Hübenthal.
