Hüllenerfehn
Hüllenerfehn is a village in Ihlowerhörn , a district of the municipality of Ihlow in the East Frisian district of Aurich .
Rudolph Pott founded the moor colony in 1639. He acquired 100 Diemat Morast on a long lease from Count Ulrich II of East Frisia .
The first colonists settled on the Hüllener Wieke. They used this to transport the bog soil that had been dug up on their parcels with Tjalken to Emden and on the way back they brought fertile silt with them to improve the soil. The Christmas flood of 1717 caused severe damage in Hüllenerfehn. It flooded 22 terps in the village. Seven people drowned and the livestock suffered heavy losses.
The connection to the road network heralded the end of the previously predominant river navigation in 1911 .
Today Hüllenerfehn is characterized by agriculture.
A memorial stone was erected in 2014 to mark the 375th anniversary of Hüllenerfehn. Earlier village names were Westersander Fehn or Pottsfehn . The current name of the settlement goes back to the unevenness of the ground. The East Frisian word hull or hull or hülte means small hill or elevation . It is first documented for 1789. Currently (2015) around 160 inhabitants live in Hüllenerfehn.
