The Hürth Park is the largest shopping center in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Hürth .

description

The Hürth Park has a sales area of 50,500 m² and houses 150 shops and numerous restaurants. This makes it one of the largest shopping centers in Germany. In addition, there is the first continental European multiplex cinema UCI and many service providers such as banks and two medical centers with doctors of all specialties as well as a gynecological day clinic. Since June 2013, the Hürth Park has also housed a branch of the vehicle registration office and the health department of the Rhein-Erft district and has thus become an even more frequented point of contact in the district. Its big plus is the wide range of parking areas and multi-storey car parks with around 3000 free parking spaces as well as the good bus and transport connections.

history

When planning a city center for the locations of the original area municipality of Hürth, a shopping center was also planned. With the construction of the first housing estates, a temporary solution was created that was operated by Quelle GmbH . The EKZ could only be built later under the willingness of the German-American entrepreneur Edward J. Roberts , who had previously become known for the construction of the much larger Ruhr Park , but not in the generous framework envisaged by the city planners. The Hürth Park was opened on August 30, 1977. The plan was made by the RKW Rhode Kellermann Wawrowsky office , which Roberts was already familiar with from the Ruhr Park. The office was also involved in the expansion. It has been rebuilt and expanded several times. In 1990 there was a UCI cinema center with 14 cinemas.

Directions

Car

Hürth Park is very well signposted from the A 1 and A 4 federal motorways and the main inner-city traffic and bypass roads Luxemburger Strasse ( B 265 ), Frechener Strasse and Berrenrather- / Krankenhaus-Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse.

Public transport

Hürth Park is served by all bus routes in the Hürth city traffic at frequent intervals. Regional lines connect with Frechen / Bergheim and (with changes) with Cologne, Brühl and Erftstadt. A tram connection is kept open as an option. The central bus station in Hürth (ZOB) is located at Theresienhöhe in the immediate vicinity of Hürth Park. A new direct line each connects the park with the tram stop in Hermülheim (720) and - via the "Fachmarktzentrum Eschweilerstraße" - with other chain stores with the tram stop Fischenich (718).
