The Stadtwerke Huerth AoR (SWH) is the legal successor of the city traffic Huerth GmbH (SVH), the operator of the city bus lines in Huerth .

General

The SVH was founded on March 12, 1997. It is a 100% subsidiary of Stadtwerke Hürth. The company transports around 3.4 million passengers annually on 7 lines with a total length of around 44 km. The SVH customer center is located directly in Hürth Park .

history

Until 1997, the districts Efferen , Hermülheim and Fischenich were connected by the Stadtbahn (formerly Vorgebirgsbahn ) with the cities of Cologne every 10 minutes and with Bonn every 30 minutes. At that time, the Kalscheuren district already had a DB train station , which offers good travel options to Cologne, Bonn and Euskirchen . The other parts of the city were connected by regional transport lines, most of which ran every hour, with the light rail or the surrounding towns. That is why the car was the backbone of mobility in Hürth. The infrastructure was accordingly well developed. There was an almost unrestricted usability of the car.

In 1997, on March 12th, Stadtverkehr Hürth GmbH became a subsidiary of the city of Hürth. Operations started on September 29th. The city bus initially ran four lines on an approx. 24 km long network of routes every 30 minutes. The districts of Berrenrath and Gleuel (line 711), Efferen (line 712), Fischenich , Kendenich and Alt-Hürth (line 713) as well as Kalscheuren and Hermülheim (line 714) were connected to the "new city" - the Hürth Park . In April 1997, the ServiceCenter of Stadtverkehr Hürth was opened in Hürth Park in cooperation with the Kreissparkasse.

As early as 1998, after only four months of operation, due to the high demand, the frequency during rush hour was reduced to 15 minutes. With the beginning of the 1998/1999 school year, school transport was integrated into the regular service . In addition, two new lines were opened. Line 716 connects Stotzheim with Hürth-Park every hour. Line 717 connects Gleuel with Sielsdorf and Stotzheim. There is demand-driven traffic on this line. Other districts were thereby connected to the city bus network. The ServiceCenter in Hürth Park expanded its range of services this year. In addition to the regular VRS tickets, Stadtverkehr Hürth also offers a wide range of tickets for musical, theater and sports fans with other promotions.

In 1999, the increasing demand for the city bus made it necessary to expand the range again. The closing time has been moved back by approx. Two hours and thus adapted to the extended shop opening times. Lines 711, 712, 713 and 714 were now served continuously at 15-minute intervals on weekdays. By changing the route, even more citizens were connected to the city bus.

There were also line changes in 2000. The new line 715 was introduced and connected the "industrial district" Knapsack to the city bus network every hour. Line 716 was extended to Sielsdorf and thus enabled a connection from stilsdorf to the city center in regular intervals.

In 2002 the city bus was five years old. In March 2002, construction work began on the new bus station on Theresienhöhe in front of Hürth Park. It was opened in September 2002. A new rendezvous stop was created. From this day, a new era in mobility began in Hürth.

A year later (2003) the management changed. On July 1st, Peter Boden left the management. Christian Karaus and Lars Martin Klieve took over the successor. The ServiceCenter in Hürth Park is expanding its range. In addition to the existing DB agency, AMEROPA trips are now also offered.

In 2005 the administration of the SVH moved to the town hall. The customer center in Hürth Park was not affected by the move. In addition, Lars Martin Klieve left as managing director. From autumn 2005 to December 31, 2007 Christian Karaus was the sole managing director of SVH.

On January 1, 2007, the operational business of SVH was transferred to the Stadtwerke Hürth AöR public transport department. The brand name SVH initially remained. Stadtverkehr Hürth GmbH continues to exist as the owner of the infrastructure (ZOB and stops).

In 2009 the bus fleet was completely replaced. New Citaro vehicles from Daimler AG have been ordered together with the Brühl municipal utility . For the timetable change on December 13, 2009, the frequency was thinned out, since then there has only been a 20-minute cycle during the day on workdays.

Line 716 was discontinued when the timetable changed in December 2010 due to a lack of demand. Two new lines were set up. The new line 718 connects the ZOB Hürth-Mitte directly with the Fischenich Stadtbahn stop. The specialist market center is connected to the Hürth city bus network through the route over Bonnstrasse. Also new: Line 720, which connects the shopping center with the Hermülheim Stadtbahn stop, so that alternating with Line 714, a bus now connects these two stops every 10 minutes. In contrast to the 714, line 720 runs over the "Hürther Bogen".

A pollution-free hydrogen hybrid bus has been operating on the 720 line since September 2011 . This is the first time that hydrogen hybrid buses are running on scheduled services in the Rhineland .

From October 13th to 18th, the Stadtbus ServiceCenter of Stadtwerke Hürth moved within the Hürth Park. In the new rooms, which are closer to the Hürth-Mitte bus station, VRS and NRW tickets, entrance tickets to events, DB tickets and Ameropa trips will continue to be offered.
