The Rhein-Sieg Transport Gesellschaft mbH ( RSVG ) is a railway and bus companies in the Rhein-Sieg district and member of the transport association Rhein-Sieg . The company is based in Troisdorf .
The RSVG also includes the two subsidiaries, the Bus- und Bahn-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH of the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis ( BBV ) and the Rechtsrheinische Bus-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH ( RBV ). The RSVG maintains two depots, in Sieglar and Hennef (Sieg) .
history
The Rhein-Sieg-Verkehrsgesellschaft was created on January 1, 1973 from the merger of the transport companies of the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis GmbH (formerly Kleinbahn Siegburg-Zündorf) and the "Siegburger Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH" with the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis Eisenbahn . The company continued to belong to the Rhein-Sieg district.
After the main shareholder Basalt AG from Linz am Rhein had lost interest in the Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn, which had operated the 87.3 km long Bröltalbahn , but at that time had already been completely converted to bus transport and thus became a pure line bus operation the RSVG bought the RSE on January 1, 1973. From September 29, 1974, the Rhein-Sieg-Eisenbahn-AG and the RSVG were housed in a transport community with common timetables and tariffs. On January 1, 1977, RSE was completely taken over by RSVG and on September 30, 1983, RSE was deleted from the commercial register. From now on, the RSVG was the only bus operator in the Rhein-Sieg district on the right bank of the Rhine, alongside Kraftpost and Bundesbahn.
Regular bus service
The RSVG operates bus services in the Rhein-Sieg district on the right bank of the Rhine. The metropolitan areas are Troisdorf, Siegburg and Hennef, where there are connections to the S-Bahn and regional trains. Several bus lines also go to Bonn . On December 13th, 2009 some bus routes were changed. Bus line 550, which is operated by RSVG, Stadtwerke Bonn and RVK, was linked with line 163 and line 501 was linked with KVB line 164. This is how the route connection 163/550 and 164/501 was created. However, the journeys merge into one another, so that a change is not necessary. Only the line numbers are changed. In Cologne city area the lines run as 163 or 164 and in the Rhein-Sieg district and in Bonn as 550 or 501.
The main lines in urban areas usually run every 20 minutes from Monday to Friday, every half hour on Saturdays and every hour on Sundays. In rural areas the basic offer is every hour and on weekends every two hours. When demand is weak, taxi buses are sometimes used. In many communities, the bus network is supplemented by collective call taxes.

Subcontractors
Many subcontractors work for RSVG. Some lines, such as those in the Eitorf area, are now exclusively served by subcontractors. The standard of these buses partly corresponds to those of the RSVG, but mostly passenger information systems and air conditioning systems were only installed in the current buses.
Lines of the RSVG
This list contains all lines that are operated or partially operated by RSVG and / or its subcontractors. After the takeover of the former RVK lines, all VRS lines that begin with a 5 will be operated by the RSVG.
School traffic
For school traffic, there are additional trips on many lines that go directly to important school locations, but otherwise use the normal line routes. In addition, there are lines 590 (Lohmar), 592 (Hennef), 593 (Neunkirchen-Seelscheid), 598 (Königswinter) and 599 (Sankt Augustin) with exclusively school-related trips and each with several route variants apart from the "normal" lines. In Eitorf, Much, Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, Ruppichteroth and Windeck there are also school bus services that are not subject to the RSVG, but are organized by the municipalities.
Rail transport
As a railway infrastructure and transport company, the RSVG operates goods traffic on the 15.3 km remaining stretch of the former Siegburg – Zündorf small railway between Troisdorf and Niederkassel -Lülsdorf (industrial railway) with a track length of 18.1 km. The volume of traffic has declined sharply in recent years; today there is only one single transfer freight train to the Evonik plant in Lülsdorf; it used to be three trains. Are being introduced two 60-ton MaK - Diesel locomotives of RSVG, also had the RSVG special-purpose motor trolley (track small cars). In the area of the Sieglar roundabout (right next to the depot) the route runs in the middle of the street. Before the train can pass this part, the road traffic is slowed down with numerous traffic lights. Many level crossings along the route are unrestricted and mostly only have traffic lights.
