Allner Castle
Castle Allner is located in Hennef district Allner on the southern slope of Nutscheid and above the victory shore .
history
In 1420 the moated castle, owned by aristocrat Arnold von Merkelsbach, liege of the Vilich monastery and from 1421 bailiff of the Bergisch office of Blankenberg , was first mentioned in a document; this is called here for the first time with the addition of "named von Allner".
In 1557 the property passed through marriage to Wallraff Scheiffart von Merode, known as von Kühlseggen, who accordingly also occupied the office of magistrate in Blankenberg . Around 1650, Bertram Scheiffart von Merode enlarged the main building of the knight's seat and began the conversion from the moated castle to the palace. At the end of the 17th century the property fell to the Spies von Büllesheim through marriage . Due to a lost feudal dispute before the Imperial Court of Justice at the end of the 18th century, the castle and Merten Castle and even Schönstein Castle finally had to be surrendered to Franz Ludwig von Hatzfeldt . He spent several months in Allner every year.
His son-in-law Maximilian von Loë followed him as owner of the palace complex. The future Prussian Field Marshal Walter von Loë was born on September 9, 1828 at Allner Castle. From 1837 to 1848 Maximilian von Loë was district administrator of the Siegburg district and made Allner Castle the seat of the district administration. After his death in 1850, the heirs left the castle, which was now vacant.
In 1870 the Düsseldorf ophthalmologist Albert Mooren bought the castle and had it rebuilt in the Gothic style by the Franciscan brother Paschalis Gratze in 1875 . In 1883 it was sold to the industrialist Philipp Heinrich Cockerill , whose daughter moved into the castle with her husband, the writer Count Alfred Adelmann von Adelmannsfelden . Through marriage, the property subsequently came into the possession of the Pagenstecher and Horstmann families . The latter had it used by Caritas as a children's home from 1953 to 1973 .
After years of vacancy, which was accompanied by devastation and looting, including the interior, and further changes of ownership, the palace complex was acquired in 1984 by the artist Franz E. Builder model of condominiums built. The palace complex itself, including the palace garden and park, is hidden behind high walls and cannot be visited. The main house and several auxiliary buildings were converted into numerous condominiums from 1986.
In 2010 a footbridge was built to the castle mill's preserved mill wheel as part of the 2010 Regionale .
