Müttinghoven Castle , also called Haus Müttinghoven , is a moated castle southeast of Morenhoven , a district of Swisttal in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district .
The property consists of a baroque , two-storey manor house from the 18th century as well as more recent farm buildings. Nothing has survived from the medieval castle, but the mansion presumably stands on the old foundations.
history
There are no written sources to date about the beginnings of Müttinghoven Castle , including Muchekoven or Muytekoven .
The castle had an eventful past with numerous changes of ownership. The oldest evidence is a deed of mortgage issued in 1371 for the Vogtei by the Cologne Cathedral Monastery for Reinhard von Buschhoven . Other owners of the bailiwick were
- Johann Laner von Breitbach (1491),
- Ulrich von der Horst zu Hurt (1497),
- Wilhelm Stael von Molenbroch (1498),
- Gerhard von der Vorst-Lombeck (1513),
- Heinrich Degenhard von Schall zu Lüftelberg (1574).
From 1671 Müttinghoven is mentioned as a noble knight's seat. As owners are recorded
- Goer to Müttinghoven
- Frenz zu Mattenfeld.
Today the Müttinghoven house is owned by the Raitz von Frentz family . The property has been leased since 1998 and is used for agriculture.
