Hausdorp Castle

The castle Hausdorp even Burghaus Dorp or house Dorp called, is a castle and a contemporary mansion above the Naafbachtals in the hamlet Hausdorp the city Lohmar in Rhein-Sieg-Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The "Burghaus" is the oldest verifiable secular building in the Lohmar city area.

history

In the 14th century, a farm in "Dorp" was mentioned in a document, which was owned by the von Markelsbach family (also called Allner) as a fief of the Siegburg Abbey of St. Michael , who also sat at Allner Castle and Birlinghoven Castle . They built the castle house, now as the owner of "Dorp".

By marrying a daughter, the house came to the Reformed Wilhelm von Gülich zu Berg , became a meeting place for the Reformed from the region and in 1672 received the right to freely practice religion in his Catholic environment. The house chapel on the ground floor was used for services until 1814.

In 1779 Antonetta Francoise von Reuschenberg born D 'Alvarado y Bracamonte gave the Dorp house to Anselm Freiherr Spies von Büllesheim. Previously, her first husband, a Freiherr von Leefdael, had probably acquired the knight's seat from the Cronenberg family in Cologne. After the family died out, the house was inherited in two parts in the mid-19th century and is privately owned.

Todays use

The former riding facility of Herrenhausen and parts of the old farm buildings have been run by the “Reitgemeinschaft Haus Dorp e. V. "used. The castle house itself is privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside.

description

The castle house was built on a base area of around 20 by 10 meters from gray brickwork and half-timbering , today plastered, with slanted gables and barrel-vaulted cellars.

After dendrochronological examinations of the timbers of the roof structure, the construction period can be determined from 1504 to 1506.
