Maximilian Freiherr von Loë (born January 15, 1801 in Wissen near Weeze on the Lower Rhine; † May 5, 1850 in Gent ) was district administrator of the Siegkreis .

origin

The von Loë family was raised to the status of imperial barons in 1629 . His parents were Gerhard Anton Aussuerus Edmund von Loë (* August 29, 1749; † May 30, 1813) and his wife Maria Adolfine Alexandrine von Merveldt (* 1766; October 22, 1812). His father was initially the magistrate of Miselohe and became a French senator in 1806 and appointed Comte de l'Empire (Count of the Empire) by Napoleon Bonaparte on June 15, 1808 . His brother Clemens (1809-1883) was the district administrator of the Siegkreis. His sister Maria Sophie Clementina Huberta (1804–1871) was married to the Reichstag member Cajus zu Stolberg-Stolberg . Von Loë was Catholic.

education and profession

After graduating from high school, von Loë studied philosophy and camera science in Heidelberg and Göttingen from 1817 to 1821. He initially pursued a diplomatic career until he retired in 1827 to devote himself to the administration of his estates.

Life

Loë was a co-founder of the cooperative of the Rhenish knight-born nobility ( Rhenish knighthood ) founded on January 12, 1835 . From 1837 to 1845 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament . He was also chairman of the Association of St. Charles Borromeo for the Promotion of Catholic Life and the Promotion of Good Writings and Books .

After the death of District Administrator Franz Joseph Scheven on March 13, 1837, Maximilian von Loë was transferred to provisional management of the district on May 1, 1837, and on August 28, 1837 he was definitively appointed District Administrator by the very highest cabinet order.

After the death of his first wife in 1838, Maximilian von Loë married Countess Maria von Schönborn-Wiesenheid on January 15, 1840 and continued to live in Allner, where he continued to work against the resistance from Siegburg.

From the beginning of 1846 Maximilian von Loë suffered from a nervous disorder that led to his resignation on March 3, 1848 and released on June 3, 1848. His successor as district administrator was government assessor Kessler. In 1870, Allner Castle was sold by the descendants.

Loë married Countess Helene von Hatzfeld zu Trachenberg on July 1, 1827 (* November 8, 1801, † April 1, 1838), the sole owner of Allner Castle . The couple had several children:

After the death of his first wife, he married Countess Maria Anna von Schönborn-Wiesentheid on January 15, 1840 (born January 31, 1809, † June 26, 1856). The couple had several children:

  • Anna (born November 21, 1840 - July 2, 1924) ⚭ 1860 Count Ludwig von Waldburg-Zeil (* August 19, 1827 - January 19, 1897), son of Franz von Waldburg-Zeil
  • Huberta (born June 11, 1843; † April 30, 1900) ⚭ 1861 Freiherr Friedrich Leopold von Fürstenberg (born April 21, 1831; † February 26, 1913)
