Horst Romeyk

Horst Romeyk (born August 23, 1940 in Koblenz ) is a German historian and archivist .

Life

The Protestant Horst Romeyk was born as the second child of a commercial clerk in Koblenz. During the Second World War , the Romeyk family moved to Osterspai in 1944 , where Horst started school in 1946. From there he moved in 1951 to the New Language High School in Oberlahnstein , from which he left in 1960 when he graduated from high school . After six months' employment as a factory worker, he did military service from October 1960 to December 1961 , before he began studying history and English at the University of Bonn in 1962 .

In Bonnhorst Romeyk in 1968 when Max Braubach and Franz Petri with the dissertation topic , the political elections in Koblenz 1898-1918 to Dr. phil. PhD . After completing his studies in Bonn (1969), Romeyk moved to the North Rhine-Westphalian Main State Archives in Düsseldorf as archivist , where he most recently worked as State Archives Director. In April 1992 he briefly held the provisional management of the main state archive. As a pensioner, he was still involved in archive maintenance, as an employee in the archive of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .
