Peter Etzenbach

Peter Etzenbach (born October 25, 1889 in Eitorf ; † June 12, 1976 in Freudenstadt ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

After attending school, Etzenbach became an administrative officer. In 1933 he was dismissed for political reasons. From 1934 to 1945 he worked as a tax advisor and accountant. He also managed a property management company with its own agricultural, timber and forestry operations.

In 1945 Etzenbach was appointed mayor of Eitorf by the occupying power. From 1948 he was a member of the Eitorf municipal council, the district council in the Siegkreis and district administrator at the same time. He was district chairman of the CDU in the Siegkreis and chairman of the Federal Committee on Public Administration of the CDU. He was also a member of the state committees for business and medium-sized businesses.

Etzenbach was a member of the German Bundestag from the first federal election in 1949 to 1961. Always directly elected, he represented the constituency of the Siegkreis in parliament.

The Peter-Etzenbach-Straße in Eitorf is named after Etzenbach .
