Süchterscheid is a district of the city of Hennef (Sieg) in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district .

Pilgrimage church

Süchterscheid owns a pilgrimage church to the Holy Cross . In 1506, Bertram von Nesselrode , Herr zu Ehrenstein , Knight and Hereditary Marshal of the State of Berg , donated a new house and property to the Chapel of the Holy Cross Benefitum. In March 1957, the chapel building association had the chapel, which had been damaged in the war, demolished except for the apse and then replaced by a new building in the form of a church that began in the same month and was completed in 1965 with the glazing of a window wall. The new building includes the semicircular apse from the choir of the old cruciform chapel from the 12th century, newly sheathed.
