Stein is a district of the city of Hennef (Sieg) in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1934 the place Stein belonged to the municipality Blankenberg .

location

Stein is up to victory . The village is cut through by the state road 333 . Blankenberg Castle is steeply above the village . Neighboring towns are to the west of Haus Attenbach and Greuelsiefen , to the south of Adscheid and Striefen , to the east of Bülgenauel .

Waters

In addition to the Sieg, the Ahrenbach , whose water drove the Untere Steiner Mühle , and the Limersbach , which flows across the village and flows into the Sieg at Haus Attenbach, also flow into Stein .

Up until the 1950s there was the Untere Steiner Weiher above the Untere Steiner Mühle . This almost 3000 m² pond served as a mill pond for the Lower Steiner Mill . After the mill was shut down, it fell dry. But in 2005, as part of a compensatory measure, an approx. 300 m² pond was created at the old location. Another piece up in the Ahrenbachtal there are three fish ponds. One of these ponds once served as a mill pond for the Upper Steiner Mühle, which has since been demolished .

traffic

In addition to the L 333, the district road 36 also runs through Stein. The Blankenberg S-Bahn stop is on the Sieg line between Stein and Haus Attenbach .

history

In 1910 there were the butcher Friedrich Hubert von Carnap senior households in Stein as well as the junior draftsman, landlady widow Peter Dresen, railway attendant Johann Ebel, train station restaurateur Heinrich Haupts, farmer and mill owner Wilhelm Pütz, the forager Heinrich and Wilhelm Quadt as well as a farmer widow Wilhelm Quadt, switchman Josef Siegburg, widow Matthias Schorn, widow Peter Johann Schoog and day laborer Johann Schöder.

chapel

The Apollonia Chapel in stone

The stone chapel is dedicated to St. Apollonia . The previous chapel was built in 1808 on the initiative of a woman de Rahm. Since the chapel was dilapidated after 50 years, a lady from Blankenberg who was praying there because of a toothache donated 14 thalers for renovation. The building collapsed during the renovation. Another collection made the current chapel possible in 1865. It is a half-timbered building with a small roof turret. In the gable wall is the inscription In honorem St. Apolloniae Virg. et Mart. multorum fidelium pro auxilio me exstruxit Jos. Brenner parochus 1865 . Inside the chapel, next to a wooden altar table and a wooden cross, there is an oil painting on wood with the motif Maria im Rosenhag . Figures of saints line the walls on wooden consoles: Joseph of Nazareth , Cornelius , Barbara , a Madonna from the Merten Monastery , a figure of Christ and St. Apollonia.
