chapel

The St. Joseph Chapel in Mittelscheid is a half-timbered building that was originally built in 1868 and goes back to the vow of a local resident who promised to build a chapel in his hometown as a soldier in the German War (1866). The foundation stone was laid on March 28, 1868, and towards the end of the year the chapel was dedicated to St. Consecrated to Joseph . In 1998, due to the poor structural condition of the chapel, the parish decided to demolish it and rebuild it in its old form. The new building was driven by a specially founded chapel association and was completed after the topping-out ceremony on March 20, 1999.
