Striefen is a district of the city of Hennef (Sieg) in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is located on a northeastern branch of the Westerwald above the Limersbach in the valley of the Sieg .

Striefen was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century. Although it is not far from federal highway 8 , Striefen was dominated by agriculture for a long time.

The Antonius Chapel in Striefen, St. Consecrated to St. Anthony of Padua , it was built as a half-timbered chapel by the residents of the village in 1790 and rebuilt as a plastered stone building after extensive destruction in the Second World War. A mass is held here every first Thursday of the month.

In 1789 Striefen formed an honor for the parish of Eigen and until 1806 belonged to the Bergisch Amt Blankenberg . After the dissolution of the Duchy of Berg, Striefen formed one of the 31 communities or local districts in the canton of Hennef in the Grand Duchy of Berg from 1808 to 1813 and was administered by the Mairie Hennef (from 1813 "Mayor of Hennef"). In Prussian times (from 1815) Striefen remained part of the mayor's office in Hennef and was assigned to the Uckerath district (merged with the Siegburg district in 1820 , renamed “Siegkreis” in 1825). Within the mayor's office of Hennef, Striefen belonged to the Geistingen community , which was merged with Blankenberg to form the Hennef community in 1934 .

In addition to the egg singing at Pentecost , the setting up of a maypole and a Saint Martin procession , a barn ball in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua is celebrated in the village on the weekend after June 13th.
