Ravenstein is a district of the city of Hennef (Sieg) in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The place is at an altitude of 142 to 179 meters above sea level in a valley between the slopes of the Westerwald , but still in the Bergisches Land nature reserve .
history
There are remains of Ravenstein Castle in Ravenstein . In 1450, the miner Philipp Roys and his wife Heylwigis von Ravenstein were named in the Bodinger Memories Book . Later Ravenstein was a nobility seat, which was connected with a seat in the Düsseldorf state parliament during the time of the Bergisch rule . The castle fell into disrepair in the 18th century.
As early as 1729, a frey Mahlmühl near Ravenstein was mentioned. The still existing mill ceased operations in 1967.
In 1910 there were the households in Ravenstein: shoemaker Adolf Dickhausen, farm worker Peter Dickhausen, miller Matthias Kohl, factory worker Heinrich Weber and farm worker Peter Weber, factory worker Wilhelm Weiß and farm worker Katharina Welteroth.
Until August 1, 1969, Ravenstein belonged to the municipality of Uckerath , as part of the municipal reorganization of the Bonn area , Uckerath, and thus also the place Ravenstein, was assigned to the then new non-official municipality "Hennef (Sieg)".
