Braschoss ( Braschoss ) is a village district of Siegburg , the district town of the Rhein-Sieg district in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia .

To the north-west of the village there is Schreck , below in a south-east direction Schneffelrath . The core is the Braschosser Straße, on which the (Catholic) Church of St. Mariae, the Catholic kindergarten and the local playground are located. There is also a sports field in the upper village. The landscape of Braschoss is characterized by hilly, agriculturally rarely used meadows, some cereal-growing areas and in particular by the large forest areas, which surround it mainly from the south, as well as by the Wahnbach dam to the south .

history

1555 a Honschaft Braschoss is mentioned in the Bergisch Amt Blankenberg . It was under the parish and district court of Geistingen . The landlords were the monasteries Seligenthal , Siegburg and Bödingen . In 1808 Braschoss, Happerschoss , Lauthausen and Altenbödingen were merged to form Mairie Lauthausen, which remained as the mayor's office after 1815 .

The municipality of Braschoss had an area of 1077 ha in 1885 , of which 387 ha were arable, 91 ha were meadows and 525 ha were forest. There were 220 residential buildings (including uninhabited ones) with 214 households in the parish in 1885. There lived 1010 inhabitants (518 men and 492 women). In addition to 997 Catholics with a parish in Seligenthal , there were 13 citizens of the Jewish faith.

In addition to Braschoss there were ten other districts in 1885: Heide, Kaldauen , Münchshecke , Schneffelrath , Schreck , Schrecksmühle , Seligenthal, Siegelknippen , Umschoß and Zur Mühlen . Today Heide belongs to Lohmar and the other area to the city of Siegburg .

The street names Im Klausgarten, Auf dem Welef, Am Kreuztor, Im Bruchgarten, Brunnenweg, Auf der Hoven, Flachsweg, Braschosser Straße, Hünenstraße, Oststraße and Bitzerweg are based on old field names and were given in 1959 to preserve them.

Association

The club life in Braschoss mainly focuses on the Braschosser Turnverein 1913 e. V., the village youth Braschoß Schreck Schneffelrath , the male choir Singers Association 1892 , the women's carnival society Vergißmeinnicht and the parish association for the Church of St. Mariä Namen (Braschoss) .

Braschosser TV has a nationally successful fistball department which, in addition to numerous youth teams (depending on the season), placed a team in the women's Bundesliga - and despite the extremely low recruitment potential, is a permanent feature in the fistball scene in the Rhineland .
