The transport company Bergisches Land mbH ( VBL ) is a municipal bus company based in Gummersbach . As a subcontractor to the Oberbergische Verkahrsgesellschaft (OVAG), the company provides extensive transport services throughout the Oberbergischer Kreis .

history

VBL was founded in 2001 as a subsidiary of the two transport companies OVAG (75% company share) and Regionalverkehr Köln (RVK, 25% company share).

The administration of the VBL is affiliated to that of the OVAG (personal union) and is located at the depot in Gummersbach- Niederseßmar .

The VBL has always been a subcontractor of OVAG in its entire traffic area. At first it only provided a small part of the transport services, at that time with 14 vehicles.

At the beginning of 2014, the VBL also took over all transport services that had previously been provided by the co-owner RVK on behalf of OVAG. With the takeover of these services, the vehicles previously used there and the personnel by VBL, the company grew massively.

This was made necessary by new EU directives on public transport . It is also possible for OVAG through VBL to obtain tax advantages and savings in personnel costs (different collective agreement).

vehicles

The fleet includes 50 vehicles, including two articulated buses for the heavily used line 301. The company's own buses come from the manufacturers MAN , Solaris and Mercedes-Benz . All buses are equipped with a stop display and announcement.

The VBL has depots in Lindlar , Gummersbach-Niederseßmar and Waldbröl (formerly RVK).
