The HM-Vehicles Freeway is a three-wheeled microcar produced by the US automobile manufacturer High Mileage Vehicles . The vehicles were manufactured in Burnsville, Minnesota between 1979 and 1982 . The single-seaters are available with three different engine types, a 12 or 16 HP Otto engine or a 4 HP electric motor . The average consumption is between 2.4 and 2.6 liters of petrol per 100 km. The vehicles have no reverse gear, the motors are installed behind the driver's seat in the middle and drive the rear wheel via a continuously variable V-belt transmission and a chain. The body is made of GRP , the vehicle has a central headlight and has been classified as a car or motorcycle depending on the approval conditions. About 700 vehicles were produced before the company ceased production in 1982.
