François-Xavier Roth (born November 6, 1971 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French conductor .

biography

François-Xavier Roth is the son of the organist Daniel Roth . From 2011 until its merger with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2016, he was the music director of the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg. Since September 1st, 2015 he has been Gürzenich Kapellmeister and General Music Director of the City of Cologne. He has been Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2017.

Roth has conducted well-known orchestras such as the Gürzenich Orchestra of the City of Cologne, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra . Among other things, he was a guest with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic , the Vienna Symphony , the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Bamberg Symphony , the Dutch Radio Orchestra, the Danish State Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Finnish Radio symphony orchestra.
