The Höhere Bundeslehranstalt für Landwirtschaft, Ursprung ( HBLA Ursprung ) is the central higher agricultural training center for the western federal states of Austria and is located in Ursprung , which belongs to the municipality of Elixhausen in the Austrian state of Salzburg .
Attending school at the college takes five years and ends with the Matura . In addition, graduates can apply for the agricultural skilled worker certificate. As an alternative to the agricultural subject, the focus on environmental technology has existed since 1998 under the same training conditions . This was replaced in 2016 by the new field of environmental and resource management. In addition to this five-year training, the HBLA Ursprung offers a three-year advanced course for agriculture, which offers graduates of an agricultural college the opportunity to acquire the Matura within three years. All students have to do various internships during their school years, which are completed in various areas and often abroad. There is also a wide range of optional subjects and projects that can be freely selected. These range from various sports and music offers to beekeeping, meat processing, organic farming, energy and measurement technology and genetic engineering and biotechnology.
As an agricultural training center, the HBLA Ursprung is subordinate to the Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Regions and Tourism . In addition to the Ursprung Castle, there is also an agricultural teaching facility on the school premises . Two boarding schools are attached to the school .
