HB ("Holy Bible") is a Christian symphonic metal band that was formed in 2002 in Forssa , Finland . They played their last concert on December 10, 2016 at Christmas Rock Night.
history
After releasing their demo in 2002 in 2002, HB released seven studio albums. In 2003 the debut album Uskon puolesta was released . In the period that followed, the group concentrated on touring Finland and was able to increase its level of awareness.
The band's second album, Enne , was released in 2006 and peaked at # 27 on the Finnish Top 40 charts and spent a total of four weeks in the top 40.Drummer Samuel Mäki-Kerttula left the band after the Maata Näkyvissä Festival in November 2007 and was through Markus Malin replaced. In 2007 the live DVD Can You Road? , which documents the performance of the band at the Maata Näkyvissä Festival 2006 as well as individual older appearances, cut scenes, including the band's history as extras.
In 2008, the third Finnish album Piikki Lihassa was released, which entered the Finnish Top 40 charts at # 12 and stayed there for a week. Bassist Tuomas Mäki-Kerttula left the band after the Maata Näkyvissä Festival in November 2008.
In 2010 the fourth album in Finnish followed with Pääkallonpaikka . In the Finnish Top 40 it was able to hold up for two weeks and reached # 5, the highest position of all previous albums of the group.
In 2013 there was a change in the band. The singer Johanna Aaltonen left HB in early 2013 for professional reasons. The new singer Miia Rautkoski, formerly G-Powered and Ramsas Atas , was introduced in February 2013. In the course of this upheaval, the best-of album Lopun Alkuja - Alun Loppuja (2002-2012) was released. On May 3, 2014, the band announced the return of singer Johanna Aaltonen.
English albums
Due to its growing popularity in Finland, other European countries also became aware of the group. On April 23, 2008 the band released an English version of the second album Enne called Frozen Inside . The album debuted at number 15 in the Finnish top 40 and a week later was still in the top 30 to 25.
In the same year the first concert appearance in Germany followed at the Christmas Rock Night in Ennepetal . Further appearances in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland followed in 2009. Among other things, the band played at the Flevo Festival in the Netherlands and the Legends of Rock in Ennepetal. Since 2008, the group has visited Germany at least once every year.
In 2010 the English version of Piikki Lihassa was released with The Jesus Metal Explosion . In 2010 the band's first album, Uskon puolesta , was recorded in English and completely revised and released under the title The Battle of God .
The release of the English version of the album Pääkallonpaikka has been announced for autumn 2013.
style
HB play symphonic heavy metal, partly with electronic elements, whose sound can best be compared to that of Nightwish and Within Temptation . The main difference to the aforementioned bands is that the lyrics , written by Antti Niskala, are in Finnish and are strongly spiritual.
